Physical Education

At Castledon our aim is to create a physical education curriculum that is inclusive to all our students which is fun and enjoyable from KS1 through to KS5. Physical education not only develops our students' motor skills but their ability to develop relationships, self esteem, confidence, teamwork, problem solving, and independence.

We offer an innovative curriculum that develops students skills both physically and mentally as they move through key stages and post 16.

Our curriculum promotes a healthy active lifestyle physically, emotionally, mentally and socially. By offering our students experiences both in school, through competitions and extracurricular activities with the aim to raise physical activity beyond Castledon.

At key stage 5 students take part in two hours of community fitness. This enables them to participate in physical activity alongside the public, exploring exercise in a public setting. Students develop skills when managing their performance, travel skills when in the community, time management when using transport and money.

KS4 and 5 students have the option to study sport gaining a Gateway qualification up to level 2 that can lead into further sports studies and careers within the sport and leisure industry in the future.
