Sports Premium

This funding is derived from the Department for Education's vision for the Primary PE and Sport Premium.

 

The overarching goal of this funding is to ensure that ALL pupils leaving primary school are physically literate and equipped with the knowledge, skills, and motivation necessary to lead healthy, active lifestyles, fostering a lifelong engagement in physical activity and sports.

 

The funding serves the purpose of enhancing the provision of Physical Education and Sports in primary schools. It aims to benefit primary-aged pupils by promoting the development of healthy lifestyles and enhancing the quality of PE across the entire school. The funding has been allocated with the key objective of achieving self-sustaining improvements in the quality of PE and sports programs in primary schools. It is crucial to emphasise that the allocation of funds should lead to lasting, enduring impacts that align with the vision outlined above, extending well beyond the Primary PE and Sport Premium funding period.

 

It is anticipated that schools will demonstrate improvements in five critical areas:

 

1. Increasing the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity, igniting healthy, active lifestyles.
2. Elevating the profile of PE and sport across the entire school as a tool for comprehensive school improvement.
3. Boosting the confidence, knowledge, and skills of all staff members in teaching PE and sport.
4. Broadening the range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
5. Encouraging increased participation in competitive sports.
